Business Development Manager - Healthcare (CSSD Specialist)

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Business Development Manager to drive sales and market penetration for our specialised healthcare range of equipment across Australia. This is a critical, senior role for an individual with an intricate understanding of the CSSD sector, capable of engaging with key stakeholders in public and private hospitals, day surgeries, and other healthcare facilities to secure capital equipment sales.
This job does require national and sometimes international travel.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales & Business Development
Develop and execute a robust business development plan to achieve sales targets and market share growth for Rhima's steriliser and instrument washer‑disinfector range.
Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within the CSSD departments of hospitals and other healthcare facilities nationwide.
Manage the end‑to‑end sales cycle for complex capital equipment, from initial lead generation and product specification through to negotiation and contract closure.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision‑makers, including Hospital Sterilisation Managers, Procurement Managers, Infection Control Specialists, Biomedical Engineers, and C‑Suite executives.
Represent Rhima Australia at key industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our healthcare solutions and enhance brand visibility.
Collaborate with clinical end‑users to understand specific hygiene requirements and present tailored, compliant equipment solutions.
Product & Market Expertise
Act as the subject matter expert for Rhima's healthcare equipment range, providing in‑depth product knowledge and technical specifications to clients.
Stay abreast of relevant industry standards, compliance requirements (e.g., AS/NZS 4187), government funding cycles, and competitor activities within the healthcare market.
Provide regular market intelligence and feedback to the senior management team to inform future product development and marketing strategies.
Cross‑functional Collaboration
Work closely with the in‑house service and support teams to ensure a seamless installation process, post‑sale support, and overall client satisfaction.
Utilise CRM systems to effectively manage the sales pipeline, track activities, and report on sales forecasts and progress.
Skills & Experience
Demonstrable experience as a Business Development Manager or Sales Manager within the healthcare sector, specifically selling capital equipment to hospitals and CSSD departments.
In‑depth knowledge of sterilisation processes, instrument reprocessing, and associated Australian healthcare standards (e.g., AS/NZS 4187).
A strong network of contacts within public and private hospitals across Australia.
Proven ability to manage a long and complex sales cycle, typical of capital equipment procurement in the public health system.
Exceptional presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
High levels of initiative, self‑motivation, and the ability to work autonomously in a national field‑based role.
A clinical or technical background (e.g., nursing, biomedical engineering, or sterilisation technician experience) would be highly advantageous.
Willingness to travel extensively across Australia as required to meet clients and achieve sales targets.
Proficiency in using CRM platforms for sales tracking and reporting.
