Team Leader/Psychologist – Assessment Specialist

Capital Capability Support is a provider of services to people living in the community. Capability was founded on the premise that we can do better for people living with disability, children, youth and families in the community, by providing flexible, personalised, high quality and professional supports.

Capability provides Clinical Therapeutic services, Therapeutic Contact and Transport, Early Intervention Supports, Alternate Care / Residential Type, Therapeutic Supports and Respite to Children and Young People with varied needs, including some with behaviours that present as complex.

About the role: Capability Clinical Services provides professional, client centred, trauma informed and compassionate support for children, young people, and adults. Clinical Services offers face to face and telehealth counselling and psychological interventions, assessments and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

Reporting to the Director – Clinical Strategy and Services and working within the Capability Clinical Governance Framework, the Team Leader/Psychologist – Assessment Specialist will lead a team of clinicians to deliver evidence-based, tailored, professional clinical assessments and reports tailored to support Capability's clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Lead best practice in implementation of ethical and evidence-based psychological services
* Lead the development and implementation of Capability's assessment services that are tailored to clients from a range of funding streams including statutory, NDIS and private funding options
* Provide direct, trauma-informed clinical assessment and support to children, young people, families and adults
* Identify and develop appropriate assessment recommendations for clients to increase their capabilities and improve their quality of life
* Provide clinical supervision and line management for assessment team clinicians
* Support the clinical services team in leading, holding and participating in reflective practices
* Guide the clinical services team in strengthening their assessment and report writing skills
* Ensure supports are delivered in accordance with Capability Clinical Governance Framework
* Contribute to the development of quality and clinical-based governance frameworks and principles

Key Requirements

* Tertiary qualification in Psychology and registration as a psychologist with AHPRA
* Demonstrated experience in assessment, ideally in ASD, ADHD and cognitive assessment
* Operates well in diverse environments, including when conducting observations and assessment in school and home settings
* Exemplify and model integrity, ethics, values and the desired cultural behaviours
* Communicate complex matters with clarity and succinctness and in easy-to-understand formats and communication methods
* Committed to identifying and harnessing opportunities and continuous improvement
* Current Working with Vulnerable People registration, including NDIS screening, or capacity to gain this
* Current CYF clearance, or capacity to gain this
* Current Police Check, or capacity to achieve this
* Roadworthy, registered and insured vehicle

* Has a passion for all things assessment-related and is highly skilled to support and shape the expansion of our assessment service offering (ASD, ADHD and cognitive as priorities areas)
* Enjoys mentoring others and being a key player in a collegiate team
* Is keen to lead and shape our assessment service and dedicated to making a difference in peoples' lives through the provision of high-quality clinical services
* Approaches their work from a trauma-informed lens
* Current First Aid and CPR certification
