About Cleaning Services
The NSW Government’s reforms to public sector cleaning services entail the NSW Department of Education taking over management of the state’s Whole-of-Government cleaning contracts from January 1, 2026.
A team has been established to deliver an enhanced Whole-of-Government cleaning contract for alignment and delivery of all program streams, including Governance, ITD, Recruitment and Risk Management.
About the role
This role involves preparing and analysing budgets, forecasts and performance data, providing valuable insights that drive sound business outcomes.
As the Budget and Planning Officer, you will work collaboratively with managers and teams across the organisation to support planning, resolve financial issues, and contribute to ongoing improvements in systems and processes.

About you
- Experience in budgeting, financial planning or reporting within a complex organisation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet competing deadlines
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and Excel skills
- Clear communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- A passion for improving financial processes and driving better business outcomes
Key Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on cost recovery or revenue management.
- Understanding of relevant financial legislation, government policies and accounting standards.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Current and valid Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment.
