Mental Health Support Worker Role
This role is for a skilled practitioner who will deliver trauma-informed, recovery-oriented psychosocial supports tailored to the needs of individuals in a culturally appropriate way.
* The mental health support worker will work closely with other program staff to ensure effective outcomes for clients and maintain regular contact with stakeholders to foster strong relationships.
* Key responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring progress, and updating plans as required.
* The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing client symptoms through referral pathways and advocating for their right to quality support services.
* They will engage with clients through activities programs to further their skills in areas promoting independence and wellbeing.
* The mental health support worker will establish supports with clients to sustain living situations that are affordable, comfortable, safe, and secure.
* They will ensure accurate collection of client information and data; maintain case file notes and prepare reports as required.
* The successful candidate will participate in organisational and community activities to advance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* They will work within policies and procedures including the Staff Code of Conduct and contribute to continuous improvement processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and safe, effective service delivery.
Requirements for the Role
* Demonstrated understanding and awareness of legislation related to mental health and disability support.
* Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective.
* Experience in working with complex clients and ability to be flexible and responsive to changing needs.
* Demonstrated ability to implement case plans including assessment, planning, implementation, follow-up, transition, and evaluation.
* Extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with stakeholders and advocate for individuals.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive matters confidentially.
* Demonstrated ability to meet and work within core values and behaviours of the organisation.
