We have two CFC facilities that will move into "go-live" operations this year and responsibilities will span the full generalist spectrum, e.g. hiring, engagement, employee relations, communications, performance management, L&D interventions, talent management, payroll, reward and recognition, and many more.

This role has direct people management responsibility for one Senior Payroll Specialist and provides "dotted line" support to Business Support resources (x1 in each location).You will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Coles team to drive a strong partnership between Coles and Ocado and work closely with our local leadership team in Australia.
This opportunity is based in Melbourne and can be performed on a full time or part time basis (either 4 days a week or part time hours across 5 days). We have a flexible way of working, with the opportunity to WFH and from site.
**About the Role**:
As a People Partner, your responsibilities day to day will include:
- Providing pragmatic and professional expertise and advice on People topics such as performance and conduct, family policies, diversity awareness
- Providing People support to Management in absence, disciplinary and grievance meetings; provide performance management expertise and assistance to ensure a high quality workforce who enhance brand reputation
- Interpreting and advising on relevant current employment legislation
- Ensuring all recruitment needs for the client group are briefed and managed effectively
- Developing practical people strategies and initiatives with Line Managers which address business objectives - eg recruitment, retention, performance, development
- Working closely with key customers in a partnership capacity; coach and assist Line Managers to understand and effectively implement People policies, procedures and best practices
- Working with the central Learning and Development team to deliver and support learning and development activities relevant to the client base
- Attending and contributing to team meetings both with key customers and within the People team; lead and participate in project and working groups on initiatives across both the People function and the client base
- Utilising employee data and trend analysis to educate and work in partnership with Line Managers on people issues, eg absence management, attrition rates, focussing on retention.
- In conjunction with the Health and Safety stream and Line Management, ensure that there are safe working systems, procedures and policies in place at all in-country locations.
- Delivering, leading and proactively reviewing training requirements for people managers, including workshops.
- Utilising Workday and/ or other systems to maintain employee data.
**About You**:
We're looking for a person that demonstrates the following:
- Knowledge of Australian employment law, at a federal and state level
- Proven experience in a generalist HR/People role in an expanding business
- Experience working across a white/blue collar and/or unionised (preferred, not essential) environment
- Experience working in matrixed operating models
- Able to communicate effectively at all employee levels (including upwards)
- Relationship management and people management skills
- Problem solving and analytical capability
- Confident decision making with the ability to work independently
- Strong organisation and delegation skills with the ability to multi-task
- Proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and make best use of limited and remote resources
- Effective networking, mediation and negotiation skills; able to listen to and persuade others
- Able to influence effectively and build constructive working relationships across the business
- Experience of conflict resolution
- Good presentation skills
- PC Literate and knowledge of HR databases and systems
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to other locations in Australia
- A flexible approach to working hours to support 24/7 business operation, there is the requirement to work flexible hours including some early starts and late shifts. This enables a collaborative working relationship with People Partners in Asia Pacific and in the UK
