We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer on a full-time basis to join the team at our Wodonga facility, located in the Murray River area of Albury/Wodonga, regional Victoria.
Key responsibilities:
* Producing transformer electrical designs for distribution transformers that perform according to customer requirements within manufacturing limitations, at lowest cost and/or best value to the company.
* Delivering the electrical designs on-time and with accurate/complete information to the mechanical engineering team.
* Replying to customer, factory and other departments regarding technical enquiries in a timely manner with the required details.
* Following internal procedures and documentation related to the electrical design.
* Reviewing own or co-worker designs to ensure correct and accurate design information.
* Evaluating, recommending and implementing best practices in transformer designs based on own experience and feedback from others.
* Evaluating and proposing improvement in design software based on own experience and feedback from others.
* Monitoring transformer design performance at test and propose improvements when applicable to either reduce cost or improve performance/reduce failures.
* Investigating test failures and manufacturing issues related to the electrical design and taking appropriate actions to fix the problem and avoid recurrence.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum five years' experience in design, manufacturing and testing of oil filled distribution transformers up to 10MVA 33kV, stacked core in circular, obround and rectangular core-coil technologies.
* Experience designing transformer products for Renewable Energy segment including PV, Wind and Battery Storage applications.
* Experience designing special transformers with High Temperature Class insulation and high fire point fluid, K-Rated transformers.
* Sound knowledge of related transformers product and material standards.
* Failure investigation, root cause analysis and reporting experience.
* Demonstrated project management, planning and cost control skills.
* Attention to detail, experience working within a team environment with good communication skills.
