Finance Officer (Accounts Payable) and Finance Officer (Accounts Receivable) duties and responsibilities are common to both roles. Differences are identified under separate headings below.
The key duties of the position include:
Accounts Payable Role
Process supplier invoices and payment requests in accordance with the TSRA’s financial policies and procedures. This will include:
* Ensuring accuracy in coding and correct documentation, delegate approval, prior to processing any payments.
* Monitoring payment schedules and ensuring accounts are paid on time including reconciliations to supplier statements.
* Resolving minor issues or complex discrepancies with invoices and payments independently and escalating where oversight or support is necessary for a successful resolution.
* Performing monthly reconciliations of accounts payable ledgers and ensuring data integrity.
* Ensure accuracy in the treatment of GST on transactions.
* Uploading of ABA files to the banking system and monitoring the authorisation of payments
* Ensuring remittance notices are sent after each payment batch is processed.
* Manual importing of AP invoices from the travel and credit card system.
Accounts Receivable Role
Process and reconcile incoming payments in accordance with the TSRA’s financial policies and procedures. This will include:
* Maintaining accurate debtor records and monitoring outstanding balances.
* Investigating and resolving payment discrepancies, liaising with clients and internal teams as needed.
* Assisting with debt recovery processes, including issuing verbal (telephone) or written payment reminders and coordinating other follow-up actions as required.
* Performing monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable ledgers and ensuring data integrity.
* Reconciliation between the Lightspeed and bank statements, with follow-up on discrepancies.
* Assist with the reconciliation of contra accounts for AP/AR interactions.
Key Responsibilities – Both roles
Reconciliations & Financial Reporting
* Support financial reporting activities by preparing summaries and variance commentary.
* Contribute to audit readiness by ensuring compliance with documentation and record-keeping standards.
System Administration & User Support
* Provide user support and contribute to training for other TSRA staff who need to learn about accounts receivable or accounts payable processes.
* Update and maintain records in the TSRA Financial Management System (FMIS).
* Identify system issues or inefficiencies in Finance processes or programs that need fixing and suggest ways to improve them.
Process Improvement & Compliance
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance Team.
* Contribute to the development and refinement of procedures, templates, and workflows.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and internal controls.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Liaise professionally with TSRA’s suppliers, contractors, and internal staff to resolve payment queries and financial issues promptly and accurately.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with geographically dispersed stakeholders.

Eligibility
Employment is subject to the following conditions:
· Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
· Police check – any new APS employee must undergo an National Crime Check.
· Probation – a probation period will apply to any new APS employee.
· Security clearance – successful candidates may be required to obtain and maintain a AGSVA security clearance commensurate with their particular role requirements.
· A ‘working with children’ Blue Card, or ability to obtain a ‘working with children’ Blue Card.
