Position Title: Principal Cyber Security Officer

Level and Salary: Level 6 $120,457 - $132,753 per annum plus super

Department: Parliamentary Services

Section: Information Technology

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

Primary Responsibilities and Additional Information: Applications are sought from suitably qualified persons for the position of Principal Cyber Security Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic organisation with generous employment conditions. The Information Technology (IT) Unit is responsible for the provision of technology, communication, and support services within the Parliamentary Precinct. This role will lead the design, implementation and assurance of cyber security programs to protect information systems from cyber security threats; oversee the management of cyber security threats, incident response, governance, infrastructure security architecture, and the application of cyber security frameworks; ensure business appropriate and contemporary cyber protection policies are implemented and enforced; and ensure the delivery of appropriate cyber awareness training. Applicants should note, some after-hours (overtime) work may be required.


Essential Selection Criteria

* Considerable experience in contributing to cyber security programs in enterprise IT environments, including cloud computing environments, using industry standard security frameworks (for example: ASD Essential 8, ASD ISM, NIST Cyber Security Framework, the ISO/IEC 27000-series).
* Practical experience in the implementation or administration of common enterprise security technologies such as, end point management and response, zero-trust technologies, SIEM systems, vulnerability scanners, patch management platforms and application allow-listing tools.
* Demonstrated experience performing research, analysis, and review of complex cyber/technology problems, and developing evidence-based options and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks.
* Well-developed communication skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills to engage and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience working as part of multidisciplinary and cross functional teams and ability to understand the organisation’s objectives and align operational activities accordingly.


Highly Desirable

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in computer science or cyber security discipline.
* Relevant security industry certification (e.g. Security+, CC, GSOC, CISSP).
