About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader Horticulture, we are seeking an experienced and multiskilled horticulturist to join our highly skilled and diverse Horticulture Team to work across Light Regional Council's region, ensuring our horticultural landscape enhances our community environment and supports environmentally sustainability outcomes. The position includes the upkeep and maintenance of Council's parks, gardens, and recreation areas.
This role is based at Freeling, about a 10-15minute drive from Gawler.
About You
You will be required to undertake any works as directed associated with the maintenance of Council's assets and infrastructure. Operate Plant and Equipment within level of competency. Be physically fit to meet the core job demands and have a commitment to WHS.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, and will ideally possess a commitment to the Vision, Mission and Values of Light Regional Council.
Key areas of responsibility include:
* Supporting the delivery of Council's horticultural works program
* Assisting with the maintenance of Council's parks, gardens, cemeteries and open spaces
* Mowing parks, reserves, roadsides or other areas including operating a self-propelled mower or slasher.
* Tree trimming and weed spraying within parks, reserves, of footpaths and roadsides
* Irrigation repairs and maintenance
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A Certificate III in Horticulture, Arboriculture or similar (highly desirable) with relevant experience
* Current MR Licence, White card and Workzone Traffic Management Card (mandatory) with Earthmoving plant tickets and ChemCert accreditation being highly desirable.
* Competence in using electronic devices and computer software systems
* Ability to rotate on Council's call out roster and participate in additional work, including weekends as required
* Knowledge of WHS systems including SWMS, JSI's, SWI's and PPE requirements
* Ability to work in a team environment that promotes continuous improvement and comradery with a strong focus on achieving community expectations
