About The Role
Reporting to the Program Coordinator (Commissioning), the Senior Project Officers will take ownership of the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health commissioning projects aligned with GCPHN's strategic and operational objectives. These roles will focus on key areas including:
* Mental Health
* Alcohol and Other Drugs
* Suicide Prevention
* Aged and Palliative Care
* Chronic Disease Management
* Primary Care
Contract Types: Full-Time Fixed-Term until 1 September 2026 or 30 June 2027 (with potential for extension).
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of allocated commissioning projects using standard project management methodologies.
* Oversee contract management and performance monitoring of commissioned service providers to ensure compliance with agreed deliverables, quality standards, and reporting requirements.
* Monitor risks, timelines, scope and budgets, escalating concerns where necessary and applying mitigation strategies.
* Engage with key internal and external stakeholders including service providers, consumers, Gold Coast Health, general practice, aged care, and other Primary Health Networks.
* Facilitate meaningful consultation and co-design processes to ensure commissioned services are fit-for-purpose, locally responsive, and reflect community needs.
* Prepare high-quality project materials including briefing papers, project plans, Gantt charts, 90-day plans, and reports for both internal and external use.
* Contribute to communication outputs such as newsletters, bulletins, website content and event materials in collaboration with the Communications team.
* Ensure accurate and timely data entry into internal systems (e.g. CRM), supporting effective reporting and contract oversight.
* Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of projects and services, identifying opportunities for reform and innovation.
* Support the broader Commissioning team through collaboration, mentoring, and the sharing of project learnings.
* Contribute to organisational quality improvement initiatives and policy development, ensuring best practice and alignment with GCPHN values and strategic priorities.
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated ability to lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health sector projects, achieving results through standard project management methodologies.
* Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including service providers, government agencies, and vulnerable community groups.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation, consultation, and influencing, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to identify needs, assess complex issues, and develop innovative, evidence-informed solutions within budget and time constraints.
* Demonstrated experience implementing change and continuous improvement initiatives in a complex health environment, including leading teams and supporting colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
