Are you passionate about healthcare and highly organised, with a warm and professional manner? The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) WA is seeking a skilled and proactive Medical Receptionist to support our Goldfields Community Health Centre, a new initiative in collaboration with Curtin University’s Department of Rural Health in Kalgoorlie.
This is a vital frontline role where you'll be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing high-quality administrative and reception support that helps ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
About the role
1. Attending to patients in person, over the phone and via email with courtesy and professionalism
2. Welcoming patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy
3. Managing appointment bookings, cancellations, and urgent clinical follow-ups
4. Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in Best Practice software
5. Ensuring a clean, safe, and organised reception and waiting area
6. Processing Medicare claims, patient billing and daily banking
7. Supporting the clinical team with timely coordination of test results, correspondence, and patient flow
8. Handling phone, email and front-desk enquiries efficiently and compassionately
About you
1. Experience in medical reception or administrative roles (preferably in a healthcare setting)
2. Confidence using patient management systems – Best Practice experience highly regarded
3. Excellent communication and customer service skills
4. A proactive and compassionate approach to patient care
5. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
6. A commitment to confidentiality and professionalism at all times

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of respect, fairness, diversity and safety. RFDS WA provides urgent retrievals for about 10,000 patients annually and offers 10,000 appointments in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental, and mental health care. Our crews are committed to delivering high standards of clinical care, aviation safety, and technology to serve WA’s vast and remote areas.
RFDS WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie, and Meekatharra, with a 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport. We collaborate with government, businesses, and communities, including Aboriginal medical services and local providers.
In 2024, RFDS WA launched the ‘Above and Beyond’ strategy to expand remote health clinics, enhance our services, strengthen our workforce, harness technology, and promote environmental sustainability.
