About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to support communications and extension activities within a Centre for Crop and Disease Management. As a Communications Officer, you will use traditional and digital media tools and activities to engage stakeholders in the Australian grains industry.
This role is ideal for recent graduates eager to grow their skills in science communication. You will be responsible for creating engaging content, managing social media, and supporting events that target stakeholders and promote brand awareness.
* Research, write, and prepare written communication materials, including media releases, blog posts, case studies, and website copy.
* Assist with logistical requirements for events and support brand awareness.
* Contribute to content creation and management of social media accounts, including X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
* Support creation of other communications materials, including videos, podcasts, and resources.
* Manage updates and maintenance of the website through Wordpress.
* Review and report on communications activities.
* Link media requests with relevant researchers and provide general communications support.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in professional writing, social media, and event coordination. You should have a degree in a relevant discipline, such as Agricultural Science/Agribusiness, science communications, public relations, marketing, or related subject area.
Candidates should have passion for science and science communication, and be able to work effectively in a team environment. Experience in online design and publishing tools, such as Canva, is also desirable.
