They are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join the leadership of the café's kitchen team.
The ideal candidate will be a creative and dynamic professional who can support the day-to-day management of the cafe and lead food preparation.
1. Cuisine – Variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, such as all-day breakfast dishes, burgers, pastas, and salads along with daily specials.
2. Schedule - Includes weekday and weekend shifts
3. Tenure – full time, ongoing
4. Salary - Offered in the range of $75k to $80k plus superannuation per annum
5. Location - Fitzroy, VIC

Responsibilities of the Chef will include:
1. Lead, guide and inspire the kitchen team to deliver the best results.
2. Lead on daily food preparation.
3. Develop the menu, with a focus on seasonal and healthy dishes.
4. Assist in the hiring and training of new cooks and kitchen staff.
5. Supervise (and participate in) the preparation of all meals.
6. Manage kitchen consumables, stock takes, ordering, cost control and budgeting.
7. Work alongside the management team.
8. Ensure strict compliance with OH&S; and Food Safety standards.
About you:
1. You have a passion for the hospitality industry and are up to date on techniques and food trends.
2. You can demonstrate an uncompromising attitude towards flavour and presentation of the highest quality, whilst aligning and motivating a cohesive and hardworking team setting.
3. Are empathetic to those around you and work well under pressure.
4. Have experience with cafe or community-focused food service.
To be successfully considered for the role, you:
1. Possess excellent relevant post-secondary cookery related qualifications, to at least Diploma level or agreed substitute.
2. Have at least one years’ experience since earning your qualifications in a similar professional capacity.
3. Are available across the working week and weekends.
4. Offer proven ability to prioritise, set goals and have the determination to achieve them.
5. Possess a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP.
6. Understand cost control, time management, prioritisation, and cost-efficient procurement practices.
7. Are an excellent people manager able to get the most out of your team.
You must have unrestricted full time Australian working rights to be considered.
