Job Title: Tribal Management Specialist
About the Role:
The Tribal Management Specialist will work closely with traditional owners and First Nations people to apply principles of cultural authority, traditional lore, and customs for managing country.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Articulate and apply principles of cultural authority, traditional lore, and customs for managing country.
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of government policies and initiatives that contribute to improving outcomes for First Nations people.
* Leverage strategic vision to motivate and inspire others.
* Maintain high-level relationships that achieve enduring partnerships, particularly with First Nations people.
Key Accountabilities:
* Lead a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic environment to deliver high-quality outcomes, meet deadlines, and achieve organisational goals.
* Provide high-level and timely advice to senior executives on the strategic and operational delivery of reef programs as they relate to traditional owners.
* Negotiate persuasively with internal and external stakeholders, providing high-quality verbal and written briefs, reports, and submissions.
* Collaborate within the reef authority to improve legislation, policy, and operational delivery, ensuring culturally appropriate outcomes.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
* IDentify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
* Be accepted by their community as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Requirements:
* Demonstrate extensive experience working in partnership with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples/communities.
* Ability to travel, sometimes overnight or for multiple days, including to remote and regional locations.
* Hold and maintain a current unrestricted Australian-issued driver's license or be able to obtain one within a reasonable time frame.
