Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and optimize lighting tools and workflows within the studio's pipeline.
* Troubleshoot and provide technical support to the Lighting team, ensuring efficient shot execution.
* Collaborate with Lighting Leads and CG Supervisors to refine rendering strategies for efficiency and quality.
* Automate and streamline lighting processes to reduce redundant work and improve iteration speed.
* Ensure compatibility and performance of shaders, lighting rigs, and rendering setups.
* Work with the Pipeline team to integrate lighting tools into the broader production pipeline.
* Support look development and rendering optimization across different production needs.
* Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques to enhance DNEG's lighting workflows.
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Lighting TD or Pipeline TD in an animation, VFX, or gaming environment.
* Strong knowledge of industry-standard lighting tools, such as Katana, Maya, Renderman, Arnold, or Houdini.
* Proficiency in scripting and tool development using Python and/or C++.
* Experience with render farm management and optimizing rendering performance.
* Solid understanding of color theory, light physics, shading, and rendering techniques.
* Familiarity with USD-based workflows and pipeline integration is a plus.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug technical issues efficiently.
* Ability to work collaboratively with artists and developers to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
