Distribution Centre Health & Safety Advisor
As a member of the State leadership team and reporting to the State Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all team members and visitors operate in a safe and productive environment. The role is critical to driving a positive and engaging safety culture that is legislatively compliant while driving continuous improvement. No two days will be the same in this varied role.
What you will be doing
* Implement and maintain the GPC WHS Management system in the site. Maintain and coordinate all safety records and documentation
* Analyse trends related to injuries or hazards/risks associated with safety in the DC and proactively put measures in place to mitigate
* Outside the box thinking to bring new initiatives, focus and feedback to safety topics across all employees onsite
* Provide WHS coaching and advice to management team members and all team members to improve safety culture and performance
* Proactively engage employees in task analysis through behaviour-based safety, working with the management team to understand risks and required changes to processes
* Liaison with Group HSE Team and other DCs to deliver and implement Safety initiatives
* Implement Risk Management framework including completion of risk assessment and development of safe work procedures
* Oversee and coordinate incident reporting and management processes on site including leading investigations
* Assist with team member training to drive safety performance and compliance requirement
* Coordinate and manage WHS induction programme for the site ensuring all persons entering the site have undertaken the appropriate site induction
* Assist with facility maintenance and drive housekeeping standards
* Actively participate and provide input at the Leadership Team meetings and Group WHS meetings
* Responsible for the observance of all company's policies and procedures with a focus on safety and human resources and policies (including all applicable Federal and State laws and Regulations relating to safety)
What we need from you
* Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety or at least 3 years' experience in a similar role.
* Training and assessment Cert IV
* People focused with excellent communication
* Previous experience in a distribution or logistics environment
* Experience in implementing and maintaining a safety management system in a single site.
* Understanding of relevant HSE and HR legislation.
* Proven experience in driving safety performance and leading positive safety culture.
* Demonstrated experience in dealing with industrial relations preferred.
* Previous injury management experience is desirable.
