The System Architect plays a pivotal role in the success of projects by overseeing the design, integration, validation, and delivery of technical solutions. As a key technical authority, they ensure the coherence, performance, and robustness of implemented architectures.

Working in close collaboration with project managers and other stakeholders, the System Architect leads the technical team, coordinating engineering activities and guiding critical design decisions throughout the project lifecycle. They ensure that solutions align with functional, technical, and operational requirements, while balancing quality, cost, and schedule constraints.

This role requires a comprehensive technical vision, the ability to anticipate project challenges, and a strong commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

ACTIVITIES:

Depending on the scope of the project, the activities of the "System Architect " may include all or some of the following:

Definition and Design of the Technical Solution:

· Identify and formalise project requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.

· Lead or oversee the development of functional specifications, working closely with work package / technical leaders.

· Draft or supervise the creation of the acceptance test plan and scripts, ensuring full traceability to initial requirements.

· Define the overall technical solution, integrating software, hardware, and graphical components.

· Ensure the consistency, feasibility, and robustness of the proposed solution.

· Design the system architecture at multiple levels, including:

. General and detailed system architecture

.Software application design

. IT infrastructure components specification (hardware, networks, interfaces, etc.)

. Computer graphics elements specification (3D modeling, visualization, etc.)

· Identify, anticipate and manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.

· Collaborate closely with the Engineering Direction to validate and refine architecture and implementation decisions

Setting up development environment:

· Define production methods for various technical environments, including:

.Software: Configuration management (e.g., SVN), continuous integration pipelines, etc.

.3D/Graphics: Modeling, visualization, rendering engines, etc

.Hardware: Workstations, networks, and specialised peripherals.

· Identify and specify the tools and resources required to implement the technical solution.

Integration, validation, deployment:

· Integrate and validate the technical solution during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

· Execute the acceptance test plan as part of the FAT process.

· Deploy the complete solution (hardware and software) at the customer site.

· Conduct on-Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in coordination with relevant teams.

· Oversee or carry out the resolution of any technical issues identified during testing.

End-user training

· Define training plans

· Write training plans

· Conduct end-user training plans

Warranty & Maintenance

· Support the transition of the project into the warranty and maintenance phase.

· Assist the teams responsible for this phase to ensure service continuity and technical support.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

Product Interface

· Act as the technical point of contact for the project with the Product Owner.

· Define and prioritise required improvements and corrective actions

Interface with the customer

· Present and justify the functional and technical solution to the customer.

· Serve as the technical interface with the customer, including:

.Explaining the implemented technical solutions.

.Justifying and defending key technical design decisions.

Project Management Support:

· Define the tasks required to implement the technical solution.

· Estimate task durations and organize the sequencing of activities.

· Allocate tasks to appropriate team members and technical resources.

· Monitor adherence to the technical implementation budget.

· Track and manage the remaining technical backlog (Work to be done).

Team leadership:

· Oversee and coordinate the management of project needs, including setting deadlines, prioritising tasks, and assigning team members across multiple projects

· Lead the development of team members' skills through training, mentoring, and onboarding activities.

· Support teams in resolving technical challenges by explaining procedures, offering guidance, and proposing solutions.

· Foster a positive team culture by promoting collaboration, motivation, and shared goals.

SKILLS:

Technical Skills / Tools:

· Proven experience in designing and modeling technical architectures, including software, hardware, and computer graphics components.

· Proficiency with software development environments, including configuration management tools (e.g., SVN, Git) and continuous integration pipelines.

· Solid knowledge of 3D simulation and vision engines.

· Ability to define and integrate complex hardware environments (workstations, networks, specialised devices, etc.).

· Expertise in requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama).

· Familiarity with simulation-focused programming and scripting languages (e.g., C++, Python).

· Strong ability to produce and critically review architectural documentation (functional specifications, design documents, test plans).

· Experience with technical validation processes, including Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) and acceptance documentation.

· Practical knowledge of technical project management methodologies (e.g., V-model, Agile).

· Competence in technical risk management and engineering project planning.

· Experience using project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence).

Language Skills:

· English: Fluent (reading, writing, and speaking).

· French: Proficiency is a plus.

Soft skills:

· Technical Leadership: Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.

· Analytical and Conceptual Thinking: Skilled at structuring complex solutions and justifying key technical decisions.

· Rigor and Autonomy: Strong sense of responsibility, organisation, and effectiveness in high-stakes or constrained environments.

· Customer Focus: Capable of understanding client needs and delivering solutions aligned with business objectives.

· Collaborative Mindset: Comfortable working across multiple teams, projects, and domains in a networked organization.

PROFILE:

Qualifications:

* Education: Master's degree preferred.
* Required Qualifications: Engineering degree or Master's degree in computer science, embedded systems, simulation, or related field.

Experiences:

· Minimum Experience: Experience in a similar role or in equivalent engineering position.

· Required Expertise: Extensive experience in technical team leadership, system integration, and customer-facing activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
