About Us

Established in 1982, Alzheimer's WA provides care, support, awareness and information to assist people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. Our services include advocacy, education, partnerships, training, consultancy and holistic person-centred care programs, based on a philosophy of understanding the lived experiences of those living with dementia. We provide CHSP, HCP and NDIS packages and day/overnight respite in our four homes based in Perth, Mandurah and Albany. Position Summary

As the Finance and Operational Performance Manager, you will play a crucial role in preparing and examining Alzheimer's WA\'s financial records to meet our financial requirements. This position provides high-level accounting and financial management services, including statutory accounts preparation, transaction processing, data analysis, and taxation compliance. Compliance with financial policies, legal requirements, and financial reporting standards is paramount, as is providing technical accounting assistance to the team.


Key Responsibilities

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:


Accounting And Finance

* Ensure accurate financial reporting by processing general journals.
* Monitor and adjust transaction journal postings from various sources.
* Develop and uphold precise finance procedures.
* Manage monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and annual FBT returns.
* Oversee cash flow forecasts and the Fixed Assets Register.
* Process leave provisions, prepare interim and year-end auditing files.
* Provide support and guidance to the finance team, addressing queries.
* Supervise monthly balance sheet reconciliations.


Reporting

* Produce Management Reports for the Board, including variance analysis.
* Generate funding program acquittal and budget reports.
* Collaborate on Annual Financial Reports and meet auditing requirements.
* Prepare ad hoc reports and provide financial analysis for informed decision-making.
* Mentor and develop an understanding of departmental financial performance within the Management team.


Business Process Improvement And Risk Management

* Develop and document efficient business processes and finance procedures.
* Identify process weaknesses and recommend improvements, mitigating operational and business risk.
* Document processes using flowcharts and establish internal policies.
* Collaborate with the Line Manager to implement risk-mitigation strategies.
* Manage annual operational plans to drive income and awareness while ensuring compliance.
* Contribute to the organization\'s development, maintain statistics, and engage in strategic management.


Financial Management

* Ensure adherence to program budget parameters and address variations.
* Prepare and present reports for executive review.
* Regularly track and report on fundraising and marketing outcomes.


Essential Criteria

* Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.
* Excellent financial and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft suite.
* Effective team player with exceptional time management.
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
* Commitment to a value-based organization.
* Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
* Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder relationship management.
* Unrestricted working rights in Australia
* WA 'C' class driver's licence
* NDIS Worker Screening Check
* COVID Vaccination (three doses)


Desirable Criteria

* Applicable professional membership, either CPA or CA designation Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountant
* Previous experience in aged care and not-for-profit financial management
* Experience with monitoring and working within a budget
* Knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and other related Government agencies and how they inform service models and delivery
* Experience and demonstrated knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards
* Commission practice and the application of quality assurance principles
