Position Overview
They are seeking an experienced Senior Broadacre Crop and Livestock Worker to support farm operations and assist with the management of cropping and livestock enterprises.
This senior role requires practical expertise, leadership in daily operations, and the ability to work with modern machinery and farm systems.
Key Responsibilities
Cropping Operations
Operate and maintain large-scale modern farm machinery (tractors, seeders, sprayers, harvesters, and trucks).
Assist with land preparation, seeding, fertiliser application, spraying, harvest operations, and grain handling/storage.
Monitor crop growth, weeds, pests, and disease; carry out management actions under direction of farm managers and agronomists.
Record paddock operations and input usage accurately for compliance and sustainability reporting.
Livestock Operations
Daily management of Merino and crossbred sheep including feeding, mustering, lambing, drenching, shearing, and animal welfare monitoring.
Maintenance of fencing, water systems, and confinement feeding infrastructure.
Assist with genetic selection and breeding programs to improve flock performance.
Farm & Team Leadership
Supervise and train junior staff and seasonal workers.
Undertake machinery pre-start checks, safe operation, and minor mechanical servicing.
Implement and adhere to WHS standards, biosecurity protocols, and environmental compliance.
Work collaboratively with agronomists, contractors, and management to deliver seasonal production targets.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum 2 years full-time experience in broadacre cropping and/or livestock operations.
Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain large modern farm machinery with GPS guidance systems (e.g., John Deere GreenStar).
Strong livestock husbandry knowledge across breeding, feeding, and health programs.
Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and undertaking routine maintenance.
Proven ability to supervise or guide farm workers and seasonal employees.
Sound knowledge of WHS, biosecurity, and sustainable farming practices.
Physically fit, reliable, and able to work flexible hours including weekends/peak seasonal periods.
Qualifications
Formal agricultural qualifications are not mandatory but will be highly regarded.
Equivalent experience in broadacre farming will be considered.
Current driver's licence essential; MC or HC truck licence desirable.
Fairview Food will support the right candidate in the visa process and career development in Australian agriculture.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate 2+ years in Agriculture.
Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application.
