About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and relationship-focused Community Business Development Coordinator to support the growth of Aboriginal-owned businesses.
In this unique role, you will work closely with start-ups and established businesses to build capability, open up new markets, and connect enterprises with contracting opportunities across a range of industries. You'll also collaborate with external stakeholders, including government and major industry partners, to drive procurement inclusion and develop long-term economic opportunities for the community.
Key Responsibilities
Business Mentoring & Support
* Support Aboriginal business owners through mentoring, planning, and operational guidance
* Assist with feasibility assessments, business strategy, marketing, and financial planning
* Link businesses with key services (accounting, legal, compliance, etc.) to build capacity
Partnership Development & Growth
* Work with major project partners and procurement teams to identify contract opportunities
* Support negotiation of commercial agreements on behalf of endorsed businesses
* Undertake market research and identify emerging business and partnership opportunities
* Collaborate with the executive team to develop strategic business growth initiatives
Community and Network Building
* Build a network of endorsed enterprises and facilitate peer support and collaboration
* Promote visibility and engagement for Aboriginal-owned businesses at industry forums and events
* Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders to advance economic participation
Training & Workforce Development
* Coordinate and deliver business training programs across core areas (finance, compliance, HR, etc.)
* Identify workforce development pathways, including apprenticeships and industry training
* Partner with business support agencies to deliver ongoing education and mentoring
About You
* Background in business development, enterprise support, or economic development
* Experience working with Aboriginal communities or community-based organisations
* Demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholders and support business capability building
* Sound commercial acumen, with experience in contracts, planning, or procurement
* High-level communication, relationship management, and facilitation skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with business analysis tools
Desirable
* Understanding of social enterprise models (e.g., land management, cultural heritage, rehabilitation)
* Experience working with Traditional Owner groups, Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), or Aboriginal-owned businesses
