Project Cost Controller
We are partnering with a leading Australian communications and technology integrator delivering major projects across the mining and resources sectors.
The organisation designs and delivers complex site infrastructure and technology solutions for blue-chip clients across Western Australia.
Due to continued project growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to join the WA Projects team on a 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of ongoing engagement.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with internal requirements and client expectations for cost, schedule and risk
* Prepare project summary reports covering progress, financials, resources, actuals, earned value and forecasts
* Deliver project finance and accounting support across major and minor projects
* Collaborate with Project Managers to create budgets, validate invoicing, track milestones, manage close-outs and analyse performance
* Produce weekly and monthly project status reporting
* Identify risks and opportunities and recommend process improvements
* Support monthly reporting with Finance through analysis and interpretation of project data
* Provide project cost, margin and forecast analysis to support commercial decisions
* Participate in project review meetings and follow up on required actions
* Maintain accurate project information within ERP systems
* Oversee financial elements including claims, invoicing and cashflow
* Review project forecasts and actual performance
* Prepare monthly project accounting reports including WIP
* Establish new projects within the ERP system and maintain data integrity
* Comply with all HSEQ requirements and support a zero-harm safety culture
* Contribute to a collaborative team culture
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years' experience in project control or project financial management (Mining, Oil & Gas or Construction experience preferred)
* Must have experience using Primavera
* Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel and MS Project capability
* Power BI dashboard development experience (advantageous)
* Experience in project controls, cost control, forecasting, risk management and earned value management
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently or within a team
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information simply
* Strong interpersonal skills with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Engineering (preferred)
* Current C-Class driver's licence
