Job Title: Senior Legal Officer
This is a challenging and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to take the lead in preparing and managing complex legal matters referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for prosecution.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and present prosecution cases on complex matters, applying expert knowledge and sound judgment to achieve the best possible outcomes.
* Collaborate with defence counsel, solicitors, police, victims, and witnesses to gather information, resolve disputes, and build strong relationships.
* Advocate in court for appeals, sentences, committal hearings, and bail applications, presenting clear and compelling arguments to support clients' interests.
* Engage with complainants and relatives with sensitivity and compassion, providing empathetic support during difficult times.
* Lead and mentor legal officers and support staff, sharing expertise and providing guidance to help them grow and develop in their careers.
