About the Role
The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician will provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing the service within a community-based mental health care setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop brief and ongoing interventions, manage risk, and create care plans that cater to the unique needs of each client.
* Collaborate with health professionals across networks to plan and coordinate individualized psychosocial interventions based on a case formulation approach.
This position requires strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and effective time management. The successful candidate will be able to build rapport with clients, families, and colleagues, and contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment.
Requirements
* A General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse, or AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker is mandatory.
* The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise, and skill in Brief Intervention Models of Care, commitment to professional development, and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment.
* A demonstrated understanding of assessment and care planning, public, non-government, and private mental health systems and programs, and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting.
* Prior experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counseling and support is highly desirable.
* The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness.
* A proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a member of a team.
* Demonstrated skills in organization and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks.
* Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
* Eligibility for WWCC clearance and NDIS worker screening clearance is also required.
