About the role
The Orange Health Service Social Work Department operates across both the Orange General Hospital and Bloomfield Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Campus. This position is an opportunity for Social Workers both local or looking for a 'Tree change' to become a member of a dynamic rural Social Work Department.
The Senior Social Worker – Inpatient Acute Mental Health provides psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, adjustment counselling and complex discharge planning for patients, carers and their relatives admitted to Acute Mental Health Units at Bloomfield Hospital. The role is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and overall provision of psychosocial care for inpatients.
In addition to the clinical responsibilities the Senior Social Worker – Inpatient Acute Mental Health is a key leadership position, in collaboration with the Deputy Head of Department Mental Health & Drug & Alcohol will coordinate the day to day social work inpatient service across the acute mental health units at Bloomfield:
* Mental Health Intensive Care Unit
* Mental Health Acute Adult Unit
* Amaroo Unit (Acute Adult Step Down Unit)
* Older Persons Acute Unit
Further, the role includes providing clinical guidance to Level 1/2 Social Workers and input into the clinical direction of the service. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a highly motivated and committed group of Senior Social Workers. As a Level 3 Senior Social Worker there is an opportunity to apply your supervisory knowledge and skills and engaged in the development of social workers in the acute hospital setting.
