The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced full-time Senior Agronomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy, with a focus on vegetable crops. This role involves overseeing crop production, implementing advanced agricultural techniques, and ensuring optimal yield and quality.
Reporting to the General Manager Production, the Senior Agronomist will play an integral part of the Production Team and will be based in the Lockyer Valley. This successful applicant will be required to travel to other sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement crop management plans to maximize yield and quality.
Conduct soil, water, and plant tissue analysis to inform fertilization and irrigation strategies.
Monitor crop health and implement integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
Collaborate with the Production Team to plan and execute planting, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
Stay updated on the latest agricultural research and technologies to improve farm practices.
Provide training and guidance to farm staff on best agronomic practices.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in agronomy, preferably with vegetable crops.
Strong knowledge of soil science, crop physiology, and pest management.
Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to work and coordinate staff as part of a team.
