ABOUT THE ROLE
A permanent full-time opportunity is available in our Central District - based in Mackay. Working as part of the Adoption Business Unit within SRA, as a District Delivery Officer you will play a key role in the delivery of activities and functions within your district and as required, within other districts. The Delivery Officer role includes supporting the District Manager with one-on-one grower engagement, and hands-on, 'in-the-field' delivery of validation trials.
You will support the creation and delivery of district productivity plans (which are developed primarily by District Managers), including the various in-field research components associated with these plans and sharing of outcomes with industry.
You will also assist with the completion of current project activities (research and adoption) and supporting local growers with ongoing adoption of research outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist in translation research delivery and implementation.
* Lead the establishment of and monitor field-based projects from inception to completion, with the input from scientific specialists and District Managers.
* Establish demonstration sites on suitable farms, leading grower discussion of results and assisting in knowledge delivery and practice change.
* Facilitate farmer meetings aimed at improving their knowledge of targeted productivity issues.
* Through engagement with farmers, identify opportunities to be targeted with District productivity plans, including through the use of in-field demonstrations and other targeted activities and programs of work.
* Employing a strategic approach to engagement, including through the use of behavioural change principles.
* Engage with Industry to communicate results of discrete projects and demonstrations, including the development of suitable communication materials.
* Work with District Managers and scientific specialists to conduct district-based data collection, to ensure a thorough understanding of issues, opportunities and risks within a region. Use this data to assist in the development and delivery of district productivity plans.
* Shared point of contact between local Industry and Sugar Research Australia in relation to district issues and inputs in the District Plan.
* Shared responsibility to communicate the District Plan to local stakeholders.

YOUR REQUIREMENTS
You will bring with you the following qualifications, capabilities and experience:
* A sound understanding of sugarcane production.
* A sound understanding of irrigation.
* Demonstrated farm management or extension experience.
* Ability to collect and translate data to support industry decision making.
* Project management skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* A focus on safe work practices always.
* The ability to work under hot and humid conditions.
