As our business continues to expand, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join our team full-time. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of steel-framed structures, ensuring high-quality workmanship that meets industry standards.
Responsibilities
* Work from blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand the project requirements and determine materials needed.
* Measure and cut wood, plywood, and other materials to precise dimensions using hand and power tools.
* Procure and select appropriate timbers and materials, and prepare precise layouts for construction.
* Assemble and install framework, walls, roofs, floors, and other structural components.
* Accurately cut, shape, and assemble wood joints to ensure strong, precise connections between structural components.
* Construct framing for houses and buildings, including walls, floors, and roofs.
* Be responsible for fitting doors, windows, locks, hinges, and other fixtures, ensuring a snug fit and proper functionality.
* Perform repair and renovation work, replacing damaged structural components, reassembling broken fixtures, and upgrading existing features.
* Operate a range of tools including hammers, saws, drills, and nail guns, as well as larger equipment like scaffolding and ladders.Comply with all building and safety regulations, wearing protective gear, and ensuring worksite safety for both workers and occupants.
* Apply final touches like sanding, staining, and varnishing wooden surfaces, as well as installing finishing components such as skirting boards, cornices, and moldings.
* Ensure the worksite is kept clean and organized during and after construction, and that all materials and tools are properly stored.
Qualifications
* A valid Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent trade qualification, recognized in Australia.
* Minimum of 1 year work experience as a Carpenter, preferably with experience in steel framing systems.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and plans. Familiarity with tools, equipment, and techniques specific to steel frame construction.
* High level of precision in measurement, cutting, and assembly, ensuring that all elements meet structural and safety standards.
* Ability to think on your feet and resolve any issues that may arise during the construction process.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving materials, standing for extended periods, and working in outdoor environments.
* Strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe worksite.
* Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other tradespeople, contractors, and project managers.
* Mandarin-speaking is advantageous.
