About the role:
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Medicine both Operationally and Professionally, some of your duties for the role will include:
Working with and providing support to supervisors involved in the training of Physician Trainees and ensuring that any conflict of difficulty arising between the trainee and his/her supervisor are resolved
Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students
Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions
Providing support and counselling to individual trainees where necessary and acting as an advocate on their behalf
Ensuring that training and assessment methods (including clinical placements and more formal learning activities) are consistent with best practice approaches to adult learning and accommodate a range of preferred learning styles, backgrounds and experiences
Ensuring SALHN provide training that exceeds RACP requirements with involvement in ongoing accreditation and training assurance activities
About you:
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award
Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification
Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
Ability to negotiate and resolve difficult and complex issues, including those of a sensitive of personal nature
Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Physician Education
