JOB OVERVIEW
The plumber works as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing facility maintenance services on client sites. The plumber is responsible for the maintenance and installation of plumbing, drainage and waste-water fixtures, fittings and systems, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
Be proactive in identifying hazards, developing safety procedures, and encouraging continuous improvement in relation to HSE. Assist in identifying hazards, advising on safety procedures and monitoring work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance. Support the RAM Services quality, safety, health and environmental management systems by:
Reporting to your Manager or QHSE Adviser any situation that could result in harm to a person, the environment or may adversely affect the services we provide our customers.
Reporting any opportunities that could improve the quality of service we provide our customers or reduce the potential for harm to people or the environment.
Understanding and supporting the annual QHSE objectives.
To immediately pause or make safe any work condition or activity that could result in immediate harm and immediately notify either by phone or in person the responsible line manager and the QHSE adviser.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
Communicate with internal and external customers on a day-to-day basis, to plan work, keep them informed of progress, resolve any issues of concern, and identify variations or additional work.
OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE
General Plumbing Service – leak repairs and minor installation work
General plumbing installation and modification scope
Drainage system installation, modification and repairs
Maintenance and repair of grey water and wastewater systems, including effluent water treatment plant
Interpret plans and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.
Diagnose and repair plumbing issues with toilets, sinks, showers, hot water systems
Maintenance on Zip Hot and Cold-water units
Drain unblocking, CCTV pipe inspections
Minor roofing works
PEOPLE AND TEAMS
Maintain a high level of communication and cooperative working relationships with all parties including field-based workers through to corporate services.
OTHER
Undertake other tasks to support the project or business operations as required. Adhere to the Direction, Competence, Opportunity, and Motivation (D-COM) principles.
SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIALS
Ability to effectively use relevant technology systems and applications relating to key responsibilities.
Valid NT Plumbers Licence.
Ability to communicate.
Class C driver's Licence.
Sound knowledge regarding all facets of plumbing and drainage, above ground and underground.
Sound knowledge and demonstrable understanding of the role and its organisational context, including long-term goals of RAMS.
Demonstrated ability in problem solving, decision making and researching.
Sound computer skills.
Understanding of the position within its organisational context, including relevant policies, confidentiality and regulations.
Appropriate interpersonal, oral and written skills. Knowledge of basic conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Good organisational skills, work ethic and personal initiative.
Ability to develop strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently or within a small team.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise whilst always representing business objectives and meeting timeframes.
DESIRABLE
Poly welding experience beneficial (not essential).
Experience in wastewater beneficial (not essential).
Sound computer skills.
Confined space entry.
Operate EWP.
Backflow testing qualified beneficial (not essential).
Gasfitters licence beneficial (not essential).
Industry safety training or relevant experience.
