To assist the Court Magistrates with the diversion of defendants who have or are suspected of having a mental illness, mental disorder, or cognitive impairment from the Criminal Justice System (Court and Correctional Centres) into the community.
PLEASE NOTE: The location/base for this role is Griffith Local Court.
Minimum Requirements:
Must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in mental health.
Must hold a current NSW Driver Licence and be willing to travel.
Qualifications and Experience:
Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2:
Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Five years full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience, with at least 3 years in an acute mental health setting.
Occupational Therapist Level 4:
Must hold qualifications recognized for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Must hold general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Five years full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience, with at least 3 years in an acute mental health setting.
Psychologist and Accredited Counsellor (Level 4):
Option 1: Minimum four-year accredited psychology degree and general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia under AHPRA.
Option 2: Minimum four-year full-time equivalent study via Pathway A or B, with membership or eligibility for listing on the Australian Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (ARCAP) as a Division A PACFA minimum Clinical Registrant or Division B ACA minimum Level 3.
Pathway A: Three-year bachelor-level degree in a health-related discipline and two years full-time postgraduate study in counselling.
Pathway B: Bachelor of Counselling and one-year postgraduate study in counselling.
At least 3 years full-time clinical experience as a psychologist or counsellor, with experience in an acute mental health setting.
Social Worker Level 4:
Bachelor's degree in social work eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Five years full-time post-registration clinical experience, with at least 3 in an acute mental health setting.
Our Service and Team
The Statewide Community and Court Liaison Service (SCCLS) delivered by Justice Health NSW offers mental health support in Local Courts across NSW, conducting evaluations and suggesting diversion options for individuals with mental health issues.
The SCCLS is expanding to include 58 courts in rural, regional, and metro areas.
