**The Client**:
We are currently working closely with an Australian logistics & transportation organization, they're currently seeking an experienced Computer System Operator to join the organization on an 'on-call' roster for an initial 6-month fixed term contract.

**The Role**:
The purpose of this role is to ensure that all customer systems remain operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year to meet the requirements of the business and ensure compliance with all relevant KPIs. The Computer System Operator has authority to initiate action consistent with the functions of the position and within corporate policy and strategic direction, under advice and in consultation with the IT Operations Team Leader.
- Ensure that all policies, procedures and processes are adhered to.
- Manage all batches, backups, interfaces, system processes and associated processing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the optimisation of business processes to further improve efficiency and stabilisation.
- Periodic review and update, existing operations and IT support processes to ensure ongoing appropriateness.
- Ensure all agreed Service Level Agreements with the business are met.
- Follows and adheres to all the daily system checklists and procedures.
- Liaises with business owners and reports to the IT Operations Team Leader on all aspects of the management of daily batches, system processing and other associated processing where required.
- Assist in the automation and improvement of operations tasks and activities.
- Ensures the workload automation toolset (Control-M) is functioning as expected; all scheduled daily activities complete correctly and action all applicable alerts and notifications when they occur.
- Provide input and expert guidance to all non-standard operational related activities including release management, new operation schedules, outages (planned and unplanned) and general operational activities.
- Ensure all system and environmental alarms have been actioned in accordance with relevant support staff and processes.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of planned outages and rescheduling of activities in the event of unplanned outages.
- Participate in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuance Plans for all critical systems.
- Investigates and gathers information as required to assist in the resolution of incidents and/or problems.
- Maintains confidentiality, security and integrity with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.

**Required Skills & Specialisms**:

- Degree qualification in Computer Science / Engineering / Information Technology or related discipline, or substantial practical work experience.
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in complex Systems / Operational environments in a 24/7/365 scenario.
- Intermediate working knowledge of all storage components including H/W and S/W.
- Previous intermediate operational experience with Control-M, Linux, SAP, CRM, Oracle, Elastic, Logstash, Kibana and Cherwell (ticketing management system).
- Basic understanding of Networking concepts, LAN, WAN and TCP/IP.
- Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Is self-directed and motivated and can work effectively focusing on task at hand and desired outcomes and how best to achieve them with little need for supervision.

- Understands and interprets written technical material and effectively identifies, collects and organises information for subsequent assessment, analysis and investigation.
- An attention to detail and ability to use data and information to form conclusions and make decisions.
- The ability to liaise and build strong working relationships with all internal and external parties.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the capacity to effectively convey ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.
- Experienced in supporting business critical systems on a 24/7/365 basis.
- Updating documentation and creation using a centralised system, i.e. SharePoint.
- Expert in problem solving and can manage multiple priorities and processes.
