We are seeking a Senior Policy Officer at APS 6 Level to contribute to strategic policy development and implementation across key government programs. In this role, you will provide high-quality policy advice, conduct research and analysis, and engage with a range of stakeholders, including ministers, parliamentary offices, and community organisations. The role is available in either Sydney NSW or Canberra ACT.
Key Responsibilities
Develop strategic policy advice aligned with government and agency priorities.
Prepare ministerial briefs, submissions, reports, and correspondence.
Support engagement with ministers, ministerial offices, and parliamentary processes.
Conduct research and analysis to inform evidence-based policy.
Assist in managing policy projects, including planning, coordination, and reporting.
Monitor policy trends, risks, and opportunities.
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring
Strong understanding of public policy development and Australian Government processes.
Experience preparing ministerial and executive briefings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities independently and collaboratively.
Experience in program management, contract / grant administration, and financial compliance.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and cultural awareness, particularly with First Nations communities.
Desirable
Experience working with First Nations organisations and community-led approaches.
Knowledge of co-design and place-based program development.
Familiarity with APS Values, Code of Conduct, and program management frameworks.
Formal qualifications in public administration, project management, or community development.
