Job Opportunity
The role of the Clinical Coder is to assign codes for conditions, including certain health status and circumstances of injury and poisoning, and health interventions in accordance with recognised classifications and associated directives.
* Clinical Coding: Code inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards and ICD-10-AM/ACHI coding conventions.
* Demonstrate consolidating coding skills by consistent work towards increasing LOS across all specialties (excluding tertiary level critical care episodes) under the guidance of the Coding Educator.
* Demonstrate a solid understanding of medical terminology and clinical concepts.
* Demonstrate ability to find and apply National and State Coding advice.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, be competent with MS Office applications, and have knowledge of National Activity Based Funding model. Relevant qualifications include Health Information Manager or Clinical Coder qualification (recognised in Australia). At least two years of independent coding experience at an intermediate level is required.
