The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Legal Counsel (Office of the General Counsel) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide high quality and timely legal advice and support to the executive, administrative, research, and clinical areas
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements
- Enable informed decision making on law issues by drafting submissions, executive briefs, ministerial briefs, letters to Ministers and circular resolutions, where appropriate
- Provide assistance in relation to legal claims made against, or on behalf of Gold Coast Hospital Service
About you
**To be successful in this position you will require**:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law and eligibility for admission as a solicitor or barrister in Queensland or High Court of Australia or agreed equivalent are mandatory for this position
- A Practicing Certificate, or eligibility to hold a Practicing Certificate, from the Queensland Law Society
- Minimum of 2 years post admission legal practice experience or agreed equivalent
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $117 026 - $126 212 per annum
