About the Role
We are seeking two Agricultural Technicians to join our team in Emerald – one based at our citrus farm and the other at our table grape farm. Working under the guidance of the farm management team, the Agricultural Technician will be responsible for driving technical programs related to tree, vine, and soil health to maintain consistent quality and meet all standards for both export and domestic markets under the Redland brand. In addition, the Agricultural Technician will assist the Farm Manager with general farm operations as part of this role.
Role Responsibilities
* Soil, leaf, and fruit monitoring for disease, pests, and weeds;
* Collecting, analysing, and interpreting data samples of plant, soil, and other factors affecting production to assist in decision making for orchard nutrition and pest/disease management;
* Pest and disease mapping, monitoring, and the implementation of sound pest and disease reduction strategies based on empirical data;
* Studying and trialling new methods and products to ensure there are continued improvements to orchard health, nutrient levels, soil structure, and pest/disease pressures;
* Implementation of IPM programs using science-based tools, analysis of data, and performing trials to ensure best practice;
* Delivery of a measurement-based approach to pathogen management, pest reduction, and nutrition management;
* Assisting with general farm hand duties, orchard administration and irrigation duties as required;
* Ensuring a high level of compliance with Health and Safety requirements at all times.
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree with 3+ years of agricultural and horticultural experience. Experience with growing citrus or table grapes essential.
