We are currently seeking an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter/Machinist for our Henderson, WA workshop to assist and perform mechanical repairs, component refurbishment, and other related service activities.
What you'll do
Develop skills to perform mechanical repairs, component refurbishment and service activities relating to Metso OEM equipment components, complete machines and spare parts.
Develop skills to undertake strip and assess and then rebuild of Metso fixed plant equipment.
Develop skills to interpret detailed drawings relating to complex equipment, measuring components utilizing precision measuring tools.
Develop skills to correctly record precision measurements within a detailed report.
Develop skills to carry out basic fitting within fine precision tolerances relating to bearings, bushes and sleeves and other parts.
Develop skills to compile routine reports, condition reports and correspondence relevant to jobs.
Receive feedback, training and mentoring from fellow tradesmen.
Keep the workshop supervisor informed of TAFE requirements well in advance.
Inform the supervisor of any absence from TAFE.
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives proactively working with the Workshop team.
Record, analyze and inform relevant personnel of production quality assurance and the Leading Hand Mechanical Fitter of status and disposition of customer requirements specific to job progress and status.
Keeps fully abreast with Company manuals, technical publications and bulletins.
Read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings and procedure manuals.
Work as part of a team to solve practical on-the-job problems.
Accept responsibilities, follow procedures and notify the Supervisor if the job requirements are unclear to the Employee.
Only undertake tasks for which the Employee is competent and only use equipment that they have been trained to use.
Use the Company's safety tools to assist in controlling the hazards, which apply to each task the Employee undertakes.
Develop skills to carry out basic manual machining on equipment such as lathe, mill and drill press.
Speak up to improve safety.

Certificate II in Engineering (desirable) and/or trade assistant/labour experience.
