About the Opportunity We are seeking a results-driven Senior Power BI Developer to join a leading Melbourne-based public health organization. This is a critical 6-month contract focused on a high-visibility project: building a comprehensive operational dashboard integrated directly with Jira to drive project transparency and clinical efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end development life cycle—from technical requirement gathering with clinical stakeholders to architecting robust semantic models and high-performance visualizations. Key Responsibilities Dashboard Architecture: Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards from scratch, specifically focused on visualizing project management and operational metrics. Jira Data Integration: Utilize a thorough understanding of Jira BI connectors (OData, REST APIs, or specialized plugins) to extract and transform complex project data. Data Modeling: Architect scalable semantic models using Star Schema methodology, ensuring high performance for large, cross-functional datasets. Advanced DAX & Power Query: Develop complex DAX measures and perform advanced data transformations via Power Query (M) to support KPI tracking and decision-making. Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into technical specifications. Core Requirements Power BI Mastery: Demonstrated experience in building enterprise-level Power BI solutions from the ground up. Tooling Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of Jira data structures and the ability to build dashboards using Jira as a primary data source. SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to write and optimize SQL queries for data validation and extraction. Healthcare Experience (Preferred): Prior experience in a clinical or hospital environment (e.g., tracking pathology, patient flow, or medical supply chain) is highly regarded. Agile Frameworks: Comfortable working within an Agile/Scrum environment, managing tasks and user stories effectively.
