Prosecutors in the Queensland Police Service are responsible for handling police-related matters in the Townsville Magistrates Court District, including the Domestic and Family Violence Court and High Risk Youth Court. They also serve Magistrates Courts at Ayr, Ingham, Charters Towers, Palm Island, Hughenden, and Richmond.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a prosecution service for the designated area of responsibility.
* Represent the Queensland Police Service and its members in matters related to the service's functions and proceedings before various courts.
* Offer legal advice within the specified area of expertise on matters concerning court processes.
* Monitor the quality of briefs of evidence provided by police to ensure high standards are maintained.
* Liaise with the Queensland Police Service, the legal profession, government agencies, and the community to establish effective working relationships and achieve desired policing outcomes.
* Identify environmental factors affecting the work area and contribute to the development and provision of legal research, argument, submissions, opinion, and advice.
* Maintain high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities.
Role Requirements
* Be admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland.
