7am, owned by Solstice Media, is seeking a part-time video producer to create short-form social video and long-form video podcast content to expand 7am's reach on social media and podcasting platforms.This role brings the show's sharp editorial voice to life through compelling visual storytelling, shaping both the look and feel of our video presence and managing all aspects of video production - from planning and recording workflows to editing and publishing - while maintaining a consistent, engaging voice and identity.
The video producer will also write, create, post and monitor static social media posts.The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism, experience creating video content for social media and a track record of driving growth and engagement.
You're somebody who is comfortable writing engaging and accurate social media copy, as well as monitoring and moderating listener comments and knows where the line is on healthy debate.
You have experience working with hosts and producers, you're comfortable giving and receiving feedback and you can work solo and collaboratively.
You will advise the head of audio on affordable and user-friendly platforms to create compelling content and contribute to a social media strategy which drives growth.This part-time role is for a fixed term of four months with the possibility to extend.Responsibilities:Develop and produce original video content for 7am in line with the podcast's editorial sensibility.Collaborate with hosts, producers, and editors to adapt podcast segments and editorial themes for social and video platforms.Develop video treatments for weekly segments and special projects, coordinating creative feedback throughout production.Pitch, research, script, film, and edit short-form videos and visual assets tied to podcast episodes and broader editorial themes.Craft clear and engaging scripts, headlines, captions, and video copy for a range of formats and platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels) while staying current on best practices and audience behavior.Use analytics tools to track performance, test formats, and refine video strategy based on audience engagement.Collaborate with producers and editors to align video content with the show's broader editorial and audience goals.Collaborate with 7am's editorial team to execute a design language for our video content.Consult on visual setups to support high-quality recordings.Uphold the show's editorial standards.Qualifications:Required:2+ years producing digital video content in a journalism, documentary, or podcast environmentExperience creating social video content for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTokFamiliarity with news cycles and translating complex ideas into compelling visualsDemonstrated ability to build audiences and deepen engagement across social platformsAbility to analyze and act on performance metricsSkilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere and After Effects) or equivalent toolsStrong editorial instincts and an awareness of news, politics, online discourse and cultural trendsExperience in a fast-paced editorial production teamPassion for journalismPreferred:A strong eye for motion design, visual rhythm, and current trends in video aestheticsUnderstanding of content licensing, rights, and clearancesComfortable writing social copy and adapting tone per platformThis position is available for an immediate start.It is a part time role, 25-30 hours a week with a salary range of FTE $75,000-$85,000 + superannuation.This role is currently operating in a remote capacity.
