Inner West Sydney | Full-Time, Permanent | 5 Days On-Site
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from their Inner West Sydney office. This is a fully on-site role (Monday to Friday) suited to a confident payroll professional who is ready to take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations and lead a small, high-performing team.
About the Role
Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will be responsible for managing the full payroll function while guiding and mentoring a small team. You will serve as the subject matter expert for CHRIS21, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, compliantly, and on time every cycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing for the organisation
* Lead, coach, and support a small payroll team
* Maintain and administer the CHRIS21 payroll system
* Ensure compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, legislation, and tax obligations
* Manage payroll reporting, reconciliations, and month-end activities
* Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
* Drive continuous improvement across payroll processes and systems
* Liaise with HR, Finance, and external bodies as required
What You'll Need
* Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll role
* CHRIS21 experience — this is a non-negotiable requirement
* Proven experience leading or supervising a small payroll team
* Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax, and superannuation
* High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Availability to work fully on-site, Monday to Friday, in Inner West Sydney
