About the role

We are looking for a Fixed Plant Maintenance Engineer to join our Hope Downs 1 team.

This role is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make significant contributions to the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of critical assets to meet production requirements. We have technical development programmes that are industry-leading and recognise the unique nature of your role. These provide opportunities to grow your career through a dedicated technical path while being rewarded for your unique skills.

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, and working in a collaborative, exciting environment within the Maintenance Planning and Engineering team, you will be accountable for plant availability through:

- Provide technical support to maintenance teams for a variety of physical assets, including assisting in planning, prioritisation, provision of logistical and technical support for general maintenance work, and emergent work (e.g., breakdown and shutdowns)

- Support root cause analyses and conduct equipment failure analysis, implementing corrective actions as required

- Review equipment issues and design specifications and provide recommendations on improvement changes

- Identify maintainability improvement opportunities to improve methodology of maintenance activities to increase efficiencies

- Actively supporting safety improvement initiatives and demonstrate safety leadership across site

- Manage change management processes relating to maintenance activities

- Support asset recovery to help return it to a functional state

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

- Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or similar with solid background in mining and processing industries

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

- Effective interpersonal / networking skills to work collaboratively in a small team, champion change and instigate and manage improvement projects

- Experience in bulk handling equipment including crushing, screening, belt conveyor, stackers, reclaimers.

- Experience with Defect Elimination processes and Root Cause Analysis methodology

- Demonstrated track record of delivering performance improvements and positive change.

- Familiarity with WA Mines Reg, Australian and international engineering standards.

- SAP experience and advanced Microsoft Office skills

- C class manual driver's licence

This position is based at our Hope Downs 1 site, working on a FIFO 8/6 roster.

Located 100km north-west of Newman, Hope Downs 1 is a joint venture managed and operated by Rio Tinto, working in conjunction with nearby site Hope Downs 4. Hope Downs 1 provides exceptional career growth and opportunities and the village provides excellent facilities for its FIFO workers.

This role is for applicants residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia. Rio Tinto offers Fly in and fly out options from Perth, our regional FIFO hubs and the opportunity to live in our residential towns where applicable.
