Job Title: Waste Management Specialist
The role of a Waste Management Specialist is to oversee the efficient management of waste facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and promoting sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, manage and implement projects related to waste facility operations, contracts and programs.
* Supervise personnel and contractors at waste and resource recovery sites, providing guidance on technical procedures and regulations.
* Conduct thorough investigations to optimize site operations and performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
* Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant environmental laws and permits.
* Provide expert advice to stakeholders, supporting community waste programs and promoting responsible waste behaviors through public engagement and education.
* Maintain accurate records, prepare comprehensive reports and monitor project performance against established targets.
* Identify innovative solutions for waste diversion and recycling, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to drive industry best practices.
Requirements:
* A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Significant experience in waste management, resource recovery or infrastructure projects, with a strong understanding of contract management, risk assessment and environmental compliance.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* A current C class driver's license, with flexibility to travel between sites.
Bonus Qualifications:
* Certificate IV in Project Management, demonstrating expertise in project planning, execution and delivery.
* Construction White Card (General Safety Induction - QLD), showcasing a commitment to workplace safety and health.
