About The Leukaemia Research Lab

The Leukaemia Research Laboratory is dedicated to researching myeloid blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and the myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). The laboratory's efforts are concentrated on how the mutational composition of blood cancer driving stem cells determines disease progression and the response to treatment. To achieve this, research has focused on generating robust models of blood cancers and dissecting the pathways of self-renewal in blood cancer stem cells and normal blood stem cells. This work is complemented with the generation of single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics platforms for the analysis of primary patient samples. Findings are utilised to support investigator-initiated clinical trials for the treatment of myeloid blood cancers.

The candidate should have a track record of outstanding achievement during their undergraduate and graduate studies with relevance to bioinformatics.
