About the Working With Children Screening Unit

The Working with Children (WWC) Check is a compulsory screening strategy in Western Australia and the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands for people who engage in certain paid or unpaid work with children, described as "child-related work" under the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004. The Working with Children Screening Unit (WWCSU) aims to safeguard children through the ongoing collection and assessment of information that is relevant to whether a child may be exposed to a risk of harm if an individual is engaged in child-related work.

About the Role

Screening Officers in the WWCSU assist with the day-to-day operations of the screening process by:

* Processing and assessing record checks in accordance with agreed policies, standards and legislation.
* Maintaining information management systems and interpreting data whilst ensuring information security and confidentiality.
* Contributing to the evaluation, monitoring and development of procedures and processes.

The Opportunity

There is one permanent, full time opportunity available, with at least one further full time vacancy expected from early June 2026. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for similar permanent and temporary vacancies that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.
