The Computational Biology Group leads a diverse portfolio of projects in precision medicine, genomics, and bioinformatics, spanning novel methods development, data systems, and the generation of biological and clinical insights from large-scale multi-omic datasets. We are looking for a Bioinformatics Research Engineer to:
* Develop and implement computational systems for precision medicine, enabling the extraction, integration, and delivery of clinically relevant knowledge from diverse data sources.
* Design knowledge-driven architectures, including knowledge graphs and inference mechanisms, to model domain knowledge and support scalable, automated curation workflows.
* Apply and evaluate AI-driven approaches, including LLM-based workflows, to enhance knowledge extraction, synthesis, and interaction across clinical and research datasets.
* Collaborate across engineering, curation, and research teams to integrate solutions into production workflows, while contributing to research outputs and mentoring students.
To succeed in this role you will have...
* Master's degree in bioinformatics, software engineering, computer science, computational biology or a related discipline
* 3+ years' experience in precision medicine or related roles with demonstrated expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology and/or software development
* A working understanding of graph-based data systems or knowledge graphs, with hands‐on experience designing and maintaining knowledge graphs in production or research settings a plus
* Experience applying AI/ML techniques, including NLP or large language models, in a research or data-driven context
* Experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams spanning research, engineering, and clinical domains
