Wirrawandi Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a culturally capable and strategically minded Heritage Manager to lead the coordination and implementation of our cultural heritage and native title responsibilities across YM country.
This senior role works closely with Traditional Owners, Elders, consultants, and proponents to ensure YM heritage is protected and managed in accordance with cultural protocols, legislation, and agreements including obligations under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2021 and Native Title Act 1993, and the coordination of future acts processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Leading strategic heritage and future acts management across YM country
· Coordinating cultural heritage surveys and consultant engagement
· Managing compliance with Indigenous Land Use Agreements and other land access arrangements
· Chairing the Heritage Advisory and Elders Advisory Committees
· Developing cultural tourism and youth education initiatives
· Representing WAC in stakeholder forums and public engagement
· Supporting governance, reporting, and internal systems development
About You
· You are a confident communicator and strategic thinker with experience in cultural heritage, native title, or land access.
· You understand the importance of working respectfully with Aboriginal communities and have the skills to manage complex stakeholder relationships and heritage processes.
· You have demonstrated heritage management experience that you are keen to share with others.
· You are passionate about the work that you do.
Selection Criteria
· Prior experience as a Heritage Manager (at least 2 years)
· Demonstrated experience and competency working with Aboriginal communities
· Strong knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2021 and Native Title Act 1993
· Experience in strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement
· Proficiency in GIS, Microsoft Office, and heritage data systems
· Tertiary qualifications in archaeology, anthropology, heritage management, law, or related field (preferred)
