The Technical Writer is responsible for developing clear, accurate, and user‐friendly technical documentation and training materials that support Field Services operations across Client's High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) product portfolio. The role ensures that technical content is well‐structured, compliant, and optimized for delivery through digital platforms and the Learning Management System (LMS). The position also contributes to establishing and maintaining a robust document control and management system.
Technical Documentation Development
* Create, update, and maintain high‐quality technical documents including service manuals, installation guides, commissioning procedures, and safety instructions.
* Translate factory documentation, service notes, and SME input into clear, structured content suitable for field technicians.
* Develop step‐by‐step work instructions and troubleshooting guides tailored to HV/MV products and systems.
* Ensure documentation reflects current standards, product updates, and safety requirements.
Training Content Creation & LMS Integration
* Convert technical documents into training materials including presentations, facilitator guides, eLearning modules, assessments, and practical competency checklists.
* Collaborate with technical trainers and SMEs to ensure training content accuracy and learner effectiveness.
* Upload, test, and maintain training modules within the LMS environment, ensuring version control and course updates.
* Develop visual aids such as diagrams, animations, and process flows to enhance learning.
Document Control & Management System
* Help design, implement, and maintain a structured document control system for Field Services.
* Establish document standards, naming conventions, version control processes, and review workflows.
* Ensure compliance with corporate quality processes, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
* Maintain a central repository of technical documents and training materials, ensuring accessibility for field personnel.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualification such as electrical engineering5 years' experience in a technical role servicing electrical or power electronics equipment
* Proven experience in technical writing within an engineering, electrical, or industrial environment. Field Services would be ideal
* Knowledge of power system products particularly UPS and/or Switchgears, RMU's.
* Experience creating technical manuals, work instructions, and service documentation.
* Capability to develop training materials and convert technical content into learner‐friendly formats.
* Familiarity with LMS platforms and eLearning development standards (SCORM/xAPI).
* Experience with document control systems and managing controlled document lifecycles.
* Excellent written communication skills and ability to simplify complex technical information.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills.
* Ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple, actionable content.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
