Overview
AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fast‐growing small‐ and mid‐market accounts to enterprise‐level customers, including the public sector.
The Solutions Architect team at AWS helps customers successfully implement cloud technologies. By partnering with internal teams and leveraging a deep knowledge of AWS tools and products, you'll craft highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address customers' business problems. As part of the team, you'll innovate daily and define the future of cloud computing, making the impossible possible.
Role Overview
You will join the Public Sector team to shape and deliver a strategy that builds mind share and broad use of AWS cloud services within strategic accounts, owning the ongoing technical relationship with customers in the Australian Government community.
Team Focus
The AWS Solutions Architecture team works with the Australian Government and AWS partners on architecting innovative solutions for all stakeholders. Our work is highly sensitive, time‐critical, and focuses on strategic and operational outcomes. We support our Public Sector community and go the extra mile to ensure successful outcomes. We are challenged with unique and diverse requirements that require out‐of‐the‐box thinking backed by deep technical knowledge.
Broad Responsibilities
You will own the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects, and develop deep expertise in AWS technologies as well as broad knowledge of how applications and services are constructed on the AWS platform.
Ideal Candidate
You possess communication skills that allow you to represent Amazon well within a customer's environment and drive discussions with senior personnel, as well as a technical background that enables you to easily interact with and guide software developers and architects. You also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

Key Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Solutions Architect, you'll help your customers plan their successful cloud journey. You'll solve complex, technical challenges so customers can focus on their business, using your knowledge to craft scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures. You'll drive technical solutions discussions, diving deep into details with customer teams.
Building relationships to understand our customers and partners is key. As a trusted technical advisor, you'll use interpersonal skills to influence a variety of stakeholders—from technical teams to executives—to align short‐term technology decisions with long‐term goals and accelerate adoption of our services.
As a thought leader in the wider community, you'll play a lead role in educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers, blogs, and running workshops. You will be shaping the direction of our products and services by gathering feedback from customers while collaborating with engineering and service teams.

This role is within the Public Sector Solutions Architecture team, working with public sector customers in the Australian Government, National Security, and Defence. As a senior Solution Architect, you will help shape and deliver a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon's services within critical strategic accounts.

Basic Qualifications
* 8+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
* 7+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
* Can take the lead on complex technical projects, possibly requiring other teams' participation.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience communicating across technical and non‐technical audiences, including executive‐level stakeholders or clients.
* Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers.
* Can create proofs of concept, demos, and/or scripts from scratch or by leveraging reusable components.
* Experience working with Federal government.
* Able to present to technical and business audiences (training, workshops, publications).
