**About the Assignment**

The Health, Safety, & Security (HSS) Manager drives the incident-free delivery of AG developments, by ensuring that the Project plans, develops, and implements scope in accordance with the project's zero-harm philosophy. The HSS Manager is accountable for planning, readiness for execution, and ensuring implementation in accordance with the project's desired behaviours and outcomes.
The role works closely with the VP Development and other project leads to drive the required business and project outcomes. The role is supported directly by the various discipline leads (safety, security, etc.), with functional support from the PNG Business Unit organisation. Reports and organisational structure will mature alongside project definition. The role is expected to be "hands on" and will include travel to construction / project sites on a regular basis to provide leadership and guidance for project staff, HSES advisors, and contractors.
**Tasks include**:
- Establish a project safety culture by acting as an icon of HSS excellence. e.g. ensuring a culture of reporting, leading project site safety audits, initiating incident reports and participating in investigations.
- Ensure a safe working environment for all project staff (employees and contractors) across all project sites.
- Deliver and own project HSS documentation (e.g. HSS Management Plans), ensuring these are consistent with Corporate requirements.
- Ensure project team compliance with Corporate, Legal, and Regulator HSS requirements (e.g. training and certification), including through improved understanding / awareness.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of any project-specific HSS management systems, including training, incident reporting, inspections, and audits.
- Responsible for establishing, tracking, analysing, and reporting project HSS metrics.
- Support contracting and procurement processes, ensuring contractor compliance with all regulatory, corporate, and functional systems and policies, developing bridging elements where required.
- Responsible for all matters relating to HSS team staffing to manage scope through relevant phases, i.e. competency and resourcing.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with field and office-based staff to ensure factual and comprehensive reporting of HSS incidents.
- Lead incident investigations where required, providing clear guidance regarding findings and appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensures that industry best practice is understood and that project team performance is benchmarked internally and externally.
- Identify and pro-actively address communication gaps or misalignment between key project stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for cross-functional risk management, e.g. integrated contracting strategies.
**This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.**
**Location for this assignment is Brisbane, QLD - working full-time office hours.**
**Previous PNG Oil & Gas project experience is highly desirable.**
**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering disciplines.
- Recognised safety management-related certifications.
- A strong technical foundation with a solid understanding of the full spectrum of the oil and gas value chain.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, laws, and regulations for hydrocarbon infrastructure construction and operations in **PNG.**:
- Ability to manage project strategy implementation while ensuring quality control and attention to HSS details.
- Working knowledge of hazard identification techniques (HAZOPS, HAZIDs, Pre-Startup Readiness Reviews, etc.)
- Working knowledge of incident investigation processes, underpinned by strong analytical / root cause analysis skills.
- Mature business judgment regarding people-, project-, and process-related issues.
- Exceptional leadership, personnel management (including conflict resolution), and coaching / mentoring skills.
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex challenges and issues to stakeholders at all levels.
- A delivery mindset / work ethic, coupled with a "team player" approach that seeks to help others succeed.
- Ability to generate novel solutions / ideas, especially in a group environment.
- Extensive experience in construction management-related roles.
- Extensive experience at an organisational management level.
- Experience across all project phases - both front-end / pre-FEED and project implementation.
- Experience with brownfield (especially hydrocarbon) projects.
- Tr
