About the Role
* You will be responsible for greeting and interviewing potential donors to assess their suitability to donate blood products.
* Your primary objective will be to ensure the safe collection and processing of whole blood, plasma, and platelets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Greet and interview donors to determine their eligibility and suitability to donate.
2. Perform routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests to assess donor health.
3. Set up and operate machines, tubing, and collection bags to collect blood products.
4. Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets.
5. Provide coaching and guidance to team members on the blood collection process.
6. Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance.
7. Monitor donors post-donation and assist them in rebooking for their next donation.
Requirements
* A Diploma of Nursing or equivalent qualification is required.
* A current AHPRA registration is mandatory.
* You must be flexible and able to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday.
* Occasional lifting of 9-22.7kgs may be required.
* Frequent standing, walking, and bending are necessary to set up and pack down machines and blood products.
